don’t worry, he’s with me (five ways Donna explained the Doctor to people, and one way he explained her)

Summary

Donna and the Doctor are constantly meeting new people. Sometimes they have to introduce themselves. Sometimes, they get to introduce each other.

don’t worry, he’s with me (five ways Donna explained the Doctor to people, and one way he explained her)

1. After her wedding
“I’m looking for this bloke—maybe you’ve seen him? Tall, incredibly skinny, like, it’s actually scary. Stupid hair, like this, he talks a lot. … No, I’m not stalking him! We’ve worked together, I need to tell him something. … You’re certain he hasn’t been here? I thought for sure something like this would interest him.”

2. Phoning home
“He’s all right, Mum, he really is. … No, he’s good for me. I’m seeing the world, Mum! … No, he doesn’t really have a job. He just sort of travels around. … No, it’s not like that! Honestly, Mum! … Yes, I’m doing fine and I’ll phone again when I get the chance. Look, is Granddad there?”

3. To a child
“Shh, sweetheart, can you tell me what’s wrong? … Your mum and dad left you behind? Oh, when they evacuated the building? I’m sure they’re looking for you, don’t worry, we’ll find them. … This is the Doctor. He’s very clever and he’s going to help us find your mum and dad. Can you tell him what they look like for me?”

4. To another companion
“My one looks a lot different from your one, doesn’t he? It’s just weird. Do you think they seem like the same person? … Yeah, I guess so. Gosh, imagine meeting yourself at sixteen. … I wish they wouldn’t snipe at each other so much, though. Mine may need taking down a peg, but I wouldn’t swap.”

5. At a party
“Good evening, milady, and how art thou doing? Sorry. Forgot I’m not supposed to do that. … Yes, I’m here as a guest. … Yes, I’m with him over there, the one in the brown suit and trainers that don’t blend in at all. … The charming one? Well, I suppose if you like that sort of thing. Witty I’ll grant you.”

6. Every time
“I’m the Doctor and this is Donna. Brilliant, wonderful Donna. My best friend. Can we help?”
